Collection Chandra Kurt Heida 2009, Valais

Heidi Heida was hab'n wir denn da … einen Heida! Oh je oh je, wenn das schon so anfängt, dann wird die heutig Post wirklich ziemlich bescheuert. Na ja, daran hat man sich als Leser dieses Blogs wohl schon gewöhnt! Jetzt aber Wein!

Auf der heutigen Speisekarte steht ein Heida aus der Collection Chandra Kurt. Die von der bekannten Weinschreiberin und -beraterin Chandra Kurt und der Provins Valais ins Leben gerufene Kollektion hat sich der Würdigung und Bewahrung autochthoner Walliser Rebsorten verschrieben. Meiner Ansicht nach eine tolle Unternehmung die anderen Ortes, vielleicht auch deutschen Ortes, ebenfalls angebracht wäre. Neben dem Heida werden auch Weine aus Humagne Blanc und Rouge, Petite Arvine und einige anderen Rebsorten hergestellt. Unser heutiger Heida aus dem Jahr 2009, der sicherlich im Moment etwas zu jung für den Konsum ist, wurde aus der Rebsorte Savagnin Blanc, einem Mitglied der großen Traminerfamilie, hergestellt. Wenn ich so schreiben und gleichzeitig auch ein wenig antizipativ sein darf: Für mich ein richtiger Essensbegleiter!

Duckhorn Vineyards Decoy Pinot Noir 2008, Anderson Valley + Three

Today I get back to my wine drinking roots! One of the first mentionable and expensive wines I had was a Duckhorn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 1997 from Napa. Then, it was a really wine "hooking"! I have no idea how the Cabernet Sauvignons from Duckhorn do nowadays As far as I know they still have a very renowned name in the Napa business. Anyway, today's wine is a product of a Duckhorn branch called Decoy in Anderson Valley AVA. The most northern AVA in California. This Pinot is the little brother to the by far better known and much more expensive Goldeneye Pinot Noir. Some years ago I had the opportunity to taste this Goldeneye. A once in a lifetime Pinot Noir experience I would not like to miss for all the wine in the world. Not because it was so fantastic or remarkable. Certainly not! More because it was so extreme. It had not a lot to do with features of Pinot Noir I so much adore. Maybe it was the best caricature of high-quality Pinot Noir I ever had. A pure poster-boy of Californian Pinot Noir as one might expect it to be. But that was then and a very different Pinot. Let's see how the little brother was doing. 

Besides the Decoy there were some additional Pinots from Burgundy and a Stellenbosch guy for dessert!

Vinosia Taurasi 2004, Taurasi

The wine „project“ Vinosia was started in 2003 by the brothers Mario and Luciano Ercolino. Two fellows once well known for their engagement at Feudi di San Gregorio. Most of their wines come from Apulia (Salento region). Anyway, today's fellow comes from somewhere else. Something a little bit closer to my cuore. By the way, I guess I mentioned it a few times before: No fan of Primitivo! Sorry, never had a really decent one. That is probably why I am not so keen on presenting wines from Apulia. Whatever … I digress! Luckily today's wine comes from Taurasi in Campania. Taurasi D.O.C.G. might be one of the most prestigious appellations, some people even call it a Grand Cru, in the south of Italy. This Taurasi, like to my knowledge all Taurasini, was produced by 100% Aglianico. The hilly soils of the village are mainly volcanic and a bit limy. The maceration period took approx. 12 days and was followed by a 14 months ageing in French oak. 

The Four Graces Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2006, Willamette Valley

The Four Graces, Namensgebung bedingt durch die vier hübschen Töchter des Hauses, ist ein für oregonesische Verhältnisse mit ca. 44 ha ziemlich großes Weingut. Neben verschiedenen Pinot Noirs (mehrheitlich aus Pommard und Wädenswil Klonen und in den letzten Jahren immer mehr Dijon Klonen – 114, 115 und 777) aus den AVA's Dundee Hills und Yamhill-Carlton werden auch Basisweine aus Pinot Blanc und Pinot Gris gekeltert. Mein heutiger Wein ist der Entry-Level Pinot Noir des hervorragenden Jahrgangs 2006 aus dem Willamette Valley (also in gewisser und komplett unzureichender Weise vergleichbar mit einem Cote de Beaune bzw. Cote de Nuits) dessen Traubengut hauptsächlich aus der AVA Dundee Hills stammt. Wie bei sehr vielen Weingütern in Oregon hat sich auch bei The Four Graces die biologische und biodynamische Bewirtschaftung durchgesetzt. Seit 2005 werden ständig wachsende Anteile der Weinberge nach biodynamischen Richtlinien „beackert“.

Ca' del Bosco Curtefranca Bianco 2010, Lombardia

I haven't really planned to dignify ;-) this white blend with a post on my blog! But sometimes you really have to change your mind about premature plans. Of course, Ca' del Bosco is a really big name in Lombardia and in the world of sparkling wine, but to be honest I did not really expect such an appealing, absolutely not simple and definitely low priced wine from such a renowned and not so reasonable (in general) winery like them. In contrast to the well known and very high priced Chardonnay, the Curtefranca Bianco 2010 is a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Bianco. In this case a very beneficial composition!

Escoda-Sanahuja La Llopetera 2005, Conca de Barberà

Es ist mal wieder Zeit für Pinot, spanischen bzw. katalanischen Pinot und das auch noch aus biodynamischen Anbau. Oh je, Oh je ein Rückfall in alte Experimentiergewohnheiten  ;-)! Ach was, das hört sich doch eher nach einem vernünftigen und womöglich noch „gesunden“ ;-) Start in das neue Pinot Jahr an! Das kleine Vögelchen aus der noch relativ jungen DO Conca de Barberà  (est. 1985, ca. 4200 ha) wurde aus Traubenmaterial hergestellt, dass auf schlickigen Kalksteinböden in der durchschnittlichen Höhe von 600 m gewachsen ist. Die Ausbauphase dieses Weines war mit 6 Monaten in französischem Holz ungewöhnlich kurzweilig. Neben dem La Llopetera 2005 (Name des Weinbergs in der Gegend von L’Espluga de Francolí ) Pinot Noir konnte ich auch einen Wein meines präferierten Givry Herstellers aus dem Clos Jus verkosten.
