HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!
This year
with a really remarkable Crémant du Jura from Château de Chavanes in
Montigny-les-Arsures. A fresh, organic fizz made of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The Crémant’s colour seemed really bright and youthful. The juvenile character continued with the mousse. It was pretty strong, full of life and had relatively small, forceful and very
sizzling bubbles. The dégorgement seemed to be not so long ago. The nose showed
plenty almost tense + fresh seeming citrus fruit, nicely evolved fresh red
berries, very mild vanilla-cinnamon baked apple aromas and a solid amount of elegant Brioche
fragrances. The taste appeared to me as vividly lean, nicely fruitful, super clear,
very precise, maybe not that baked apple'ish (more fresh red apples) and totally invigorating. The mouth-feel seemed very contenting
for a crémant. Maybe the best I ever had from such an "inferior" Ex-Champagne-Product. Okay, the complexity wasn’t humongous! No problem for me! The clarity
of the fruit flavours compensated this minor deficit. For me definitely a decent **** start into a hopefully better year! Great and reasonable alternative to a Champagne standard cuvée!
