For some strange reason - or not (?) - my juice posts get the highest access rates so far. It's been a long time since the last one. So today, I'd like to provide my blog with a little bit more turnover than usual and present you another juice from East-Asia. Somehow this sounds really creepy, I guess! Whatever … today I'd like to present you my first Tamarind juice! As far as I can remember – never had some before. This very first Tamarind juice was produced under the brand name Foco by the Thai Argri PLC in Samutprakarn in the Greater Bangkok area. The juice was produced by 30% tamarind pulp, water, sugar and high fructose syrup. Let's check it out …

Bird's Nest Soup? Chiao Kuo White Fungus Drink, Taiwan

To start your day right - once again it had to be - this morning - a classic Asian soft drink. This time it was a white fungus drink from Taiwan. The ingredients were: 83,1 % water, 8,9% sugar and 8% white fungus (apparently morels). I had comparable drinks like this quite a few times. You might consider them as a more honest and similar tasting version of those bird’s nest drinks (see the little swallow on the can). Most of those drinks look like bird’s nest soup and even taste a bit like that. Maybe because there isn’t so much overwhelming taste in these soups? Well, OK I better shut up about this delicacy. I once had the opportunity to have a cup some years ago. This won’t make me an expert in this field ;-). Back to the drink:

Indigenous Softy: Chiao Kuo Basil Seed Drink with Honey, Taiwan

On an early Sunday morning it might be better to grab for something without alcohol. Maybe!?! I guess. Whatever … today it shalt be like that! Right now I am having a “classic” Chinese soft drink. A basil seed drink with honey!!! It simply consists of water (46%), basil seeds (40%), sugar (13%) and hints of banana and honey.
