Bored people are into
astoundingly questionable actions! Today, I would like to indulge myself
with something completely different! For the sake of conciseness I'll try to stick to the basics concerning the producer, to the
production process and to the actual “wines”! I hope my plan will work
out! Not quite sure yet …
Well, there is not too
much to elaborate about the producer: Just Torres! The big Catalan
wine empire which was founded in the second half of the 19th
century which stretches out all over Spain, California and
Chile. Famous names like Mas la Plana, Coronas and Marimar Estate
speak for themselves. Natureo, a relatively young project, might be
not that overwhelmingly famous! What is it? Well, wine – which was de-alcoholised to a
level just below 0,5% of alcohol! Yeah – sounds a bit grim, right? Today's both “wines” were fermented for two weeks in stainless steel at a
permanent temperature between 14 to 16 centigrade + a bit of skin contact time for the redster and subsequently de-alcoholised. That's enough techno-knowledge for today! Let's keep the concise manner, no more jabbering
and straight over to the „wines“ …
Natureo Free Muscat
In my glass I spotted a
straight bright yellow colour with minor green reflexes, a few tiny
particles and a bit of carbon acid. The nose appeared astoundingly
interesting and almost a bit complex! I got very intense fragrances of honey, muscat,
sweet'ish lemon peel, green apple and dry haystack. A very fruitful,
off-dry seeming and fresh - however very perfumed - nose indeed. The
taste showed features of green lemons, honey, dextrose including
quite a lot of sweetness, instant lemon tea, chamomile and most
certainly plenty of muscat flavours. It seemed very animating, very
juicy, pretty fresh, for me a bit too off-dry and unfortunately
really short! The latter was its biggest and most substantial
problem. In conclusion: A not too insignificant “wine” without
too much to offer! Not too shabby, anyway! Maybe the best alc free
wine I had so far. No idea what my last sentence might try to express ...
Natureo Free Syrah-Cabernet Sauvignon
In the adjoining glass of the red
Natureo I was under the impression to spot the hue of a very dense, shiny
and lush Rosé with a few hints of carbon acid. The nose seemed a bit
smokey, cool, full of cheesy bright cherries and equipped with a few
hints of red currant plus a minor pickle'ish stain. Pretty much same for the taste! It was
full of very bright berry fruitful, rather cheesy ones, slightly sticky, fresh,
pretty dextrose'y and even shorter than the Muscat. In conclusion: Not my cup of
“wine” and far more juice-like. I wasn't able to detect those
back label features like forest berries, liquorice or a long lasting
finish. No real convincing features about this
Syrah-Cabernet Sauvignon red blend ...
Well, I don't know if one - or I - should call
these products actual wine?!? That is why I have chosen to use the
inverted commas. I suppose it is something in between grape juice and wine
(without alcohol). I am also not quite sure about its potential as an alternative to water, fruit juices or other alcohol free (or close to alcohol free) beverages. Only one thing is for sure - if you feel the urge to try one of these "wines", please try the white one!
By the way, no real wine - no ratings!
