My Halloween “Happening Now Tasting“
tradition is back (at least this year). I guess an introduction for "this" is not really necessary!
It is certainly highly famous. And the photo says more than enough … Let's get the job done ...
Just popped the plastic cork and poured the Zalto allrounder glass
Colour: 18K golden yellow, perhaps a
bit pale, however certainly a vital hue
Nose: supermarket honey, honeysuckle, apricot, almonds, weed, white pepper
Taste: surprisingly strong first impression for a Lugana, a bit oily weed, phenolic Trubiana punch, a lot of candied fruits, so far quite powerful and a bit crude
3 hours of air and a bit more temperature …
Nose: a bit more musty, a bit more faint, less vigour, more almonds, strong honeysuckle, more and more candied fruits, less filegree
Taste: more faint, more rustic,
seemingly phenol and alcohol heavier, more herbaceous perhaps even
bitter, Turbiana turbo full throttle in first gear – so to speak,
much more crude and bulky with more temperature, distinct fruit
flavours more blurry, however still very candied
another 20 hours later (bottle still 2/3rds full) ...
Nose: herbs (a lot of nettles) and weeds dominate today's quite challenging
olfactory impression. Only traces almonds and candied fruits are still left.
Pretty faint and dull nose today.
Taste: On the palate more herbs as
well. Rather bitter ones I fear. A lot of chicory now! That's new! A bit more soapy, greasy margarine'ish and alc driven ethereal
character, too. More and more sweetening candied fruits. Overall today
in a rather abrasive mood I fear.Unfortunately ...
I suggest to drink it cold and quick!
