A classic sparkling by one of the most famous producers of Cava. For sure no discovery ;-)! This from Gramona was made of 50% Xarel-lo, 40% Macabea and 10% Chardonnay. I saw a lively bright golden colour in my flute'ish glass. Very soft and gentle mousse. Pretty small bubbles. Intense fragrances of red apples, lemon cream biscuits, nuts and flowery honey. The taste showed very refined flavours of various apples and biscuits, a hint of orange liquor and very nicely integrated nut aromas. This Cava appeared to be a gentle, lean and not too simple minded sparkling wine. It wasn't as tart, spicy, "dry" or harshly down-to-earth like some Cavas. It goes down the gullet rather easy and made a hell of fun. Very enjoyable stuff for little money.
