I. e. another old New York state winery called Pleasant Valley Wine Company started to produce sacramental and medicinal wines, too. I am pretty sure the demand for such wines skyrocketed in these days. But the overall impact to the actual wine knowledge must have been terrible. I just read on Wikipedia (not sure how reliable this quote is ;-) ) that wine production between 1919 to 1925 dropped 94%.
