Juicy Moments: L.A. Cetto Petite Sirah 2010, Baja California

I guess today’s tasting note will be the most concise one so far. My extraordinary Petite Sirah was made by L.A. Cetto. A winery founded in the early 1970s by an Italian immigrant and to date probably the largest wine producer in Valle de Guadalupe on Baja California, Mexico. Enough briefing for today! That will do!

Both bouquet and taste and not to forget colour told my senses one thing right from the start: juicy! Pure, utter and unadulterated red currant juice plus hints of a few other berries. From the first to the last sip. Very vital and straight juice-a-like. Well, perhaps I spotted a few hints of red currant sherbet with some traces of nutmeg and pepper, too. Anyway, 90% of all tasted like red currant juice. Luckily the sweetness wasn’t superimposed or pungent, but definitely present! Really weird wine, which wasn’t me at all, but wasn’t that bad either!

Hi, thanks for your comment! Really funny! About a week ago I bought the Private Bin Nebbiolo 2007 from L.A. Cetto. Now I am really looking forward to this one :-)
